22nd Annual GSR Fine Art Festival begins Saturday, Nov. 30th

November 26, 2024 (Mankato, MN)—Seventy plus artists, authors and musicians will fill the banquet hall at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, MN, this weekend to display and sell their one-of-a-kind works at the Twin Rivers GSR Fine Art Festival. For the past 21 years, GSR has been the only juried art festival in the region and has become an annual destination event for art lovers throughout the area.

 There will be works by potters, painters, photographers, jewelers, sculptors, glass, leather, wood and fiber artists for sale at a wide range of prices. Fourteen creative writers will fill Writer’s Row and be on hand to discuss and sell their published works. In addition, the GSR music stage features live musical performances throughout the weekend.

 Each year, GSR features an emerging artist. This year’s Up and Coming Artist is Caitlin Lang. Lang, who works primarily in drawing, painting and printmaking, will create new work near the festival’s entrance.

 GSR runs from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday. In addition to the art, delicious food and snack options by Wooden Spoon will be served in the Bistro and the bar will feature signature specialty cocktails made with mixers from Summer Lakes Beverage, beer, wine and seltzers. Admission and parking are free.

 This year’s festival is underwritten by The Marian Anderson Fund of the Mankato Area Foundation. Anderson’s work will be showcased at the festival plus her prints and books will be available for purchase at the Blue Earth County Historical Society’s booth.

 GSR was adopted this summer by the Twin Rivers Council for the Arts and has joined their other successful programming portfolio including CityArt Mankato, Best in Art, ShopArt Midwest and other artist outreach initiatives.
